Where to buy Tinned copper solar wire
Hi All,
i am installing NEW solar to my Tayana 42 along with new arch and folding davit. I purchased 3 Solara 140w rigid Marine grade panels with Victron 75/15 MPPT controller. Now on to the wiring. I am shopping for bulk 10 gauge Marine Grade Tinned copper solar wire. I can only find one source via Google, Coastal Climate Control. NO OTHER RESULTS for marine grade wire. Surely you guys have purchased marine grade solar wire by the foot??? Kindly pass along your tips.

Re: Where to buy Tinned copper solar wire
I've never purchased "solar wire", but have purchased MC-4 connectors and wire from genuinedealz.com

Try these guys... https://www.delcity.net I've used them on vehicle renovation and found them reasonably priced and quick.

Amazon, West Marine, Defender. Any marine store would be able to order it in if they don't have it in stock.

Re: Where to buy Tinned copper solar wire
I think you need to explain what solar wire is. We think it is just tinned wire.

"Solar wire" is wire for transmitting solar power.
For regular marine wire, genuinedealz.com is a great vendor.

Re: Where to buy Tinned copper solar wire
I'm also keen to know what 'solar wire' is. This is a new one on me. I hope the regular old Ancor marine wire that I used for my panels isn't all wrong...
Is there really such a thing????

Re: Where to buy Tinned copper solar wire
Tinned MARINE wire is all you need. Specify 2 conductors, round UV-rated jacketing, and proper gauge. Add the right connections, you're golden. With round wire, which is easier to make weatherproof at the connection seals, you may be better off using 4-conductors of smaller AWG combined as 2+2. Combining the wires is equivalent to jumping a few AWG gauge sizes. It lowers voltage drop and increases capacity.
Google: "AWG gauge cross sectional area" and you will find tables online.

Re: Where to buy Tinned copper solar wire
Ok, got it. It looks like it's just wire that has to meet a spec. I believe that any decent marine wire will conform to this. Except maybe the burial certification...
Thanks for the link, Gord.

What on earth is "Solar Wire" are you looking for pre-made cables with connectors installed?
