What type of fluid for my batts

I am wondering what type of fluids I should be using to replenish what the batteries lose through normal usage. I have been told never water and should be some kind of electrolyte. If this is the case do I get the solution at an auto parts store and is there one brand that is better than another?

Just get distilled water at the grocery store. Try not to use drinking water. Don't use battery acid.

Only the water leaves, not the acid. So just replace the water with distilled or deionized water.

Do not add acid or you will raise the specific gravity too high, the reason for distilled water is to keep from contaminating the electrolyte in the battery. In normal use a batery electrolyzes water into hydrogen and oxygen, the acid remains untouched, hence the reason to only add distilled water
