What size solar controller

My TS 60 MPPT seems to have fried, according to customer service, so replacement is needed.

I have 3 X 225 = 675 watt of 36 volt solar panels, wired in series. No plans of adding any panels.

I've been thinking of going with a TS 45 MPPT as a replacement.

Should I stick with the 60 amp MPPT controller or are there other options ?

That's only about 18 amps. In my neck of the woods TS60 Mppt controllers run about usd750. Why did you have such a big controller? I would think a 25 /30 amp controller would be more than sufficient and you would save a bunch of money in the process. Unless I've missed something. That mppt60 was overkill? Even with the panels wired in series. You're within the 150voc max of the controller.

The 60 amp controller is rated for 800 watts solar at 12 volts.

The 45 amp controller is rated for 600 watts solar at 12 volts.

I routinely see over 30 amps on my system, so I don't understand your calculations.

for 12v batteries you'd want another 60a.

for 24v you could use a 30a

you didn't mention in your first post.

other guy was probably confused on the 36v part...
