Units are our friend.
Likely to be Celsius, no answer.

CF members are also our friends.

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

FYI, for those yelling at Jim and Stu,

Stu was told to "Get a life" when all he did was provide correction and implore people to use the correct units.

*That's* where it went off the rails, and personally I think Jim and Stu have both reacted more maturely than I'm tempted to after that kind of bologna.

Honestly your own post proves my point, it was very difficult to understand what you were trying to say.

But if I excavate your point from under those errors , you are saying you could disambiguate my report by noting if my current draw was really 20AH / 24H = 0.83A, there would be no way for me to determine that, and therefore invalidates that as a possibility.

That would be possible only if
- i measured my consumption by periodically sampling a current meter
- that current meter only reported whole-number amp measurements

Of course, most folks determine their consumption with a tool that automatically accumulates your current draw over time and reports AH. And they certainly are not limited to whole-number amp measurements. But neither are any current meters that I've ever seen, either.

'Current meters' measure water flow, 'Ammeters ' show current flow.

Just thought I'd sort for you before StuM turned up....

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

Errrr......the post said 90 degree water. There is a significant difference between 90 deg F and 90 deg C which is what I believe you are alluding to.

However, the majority of the world uses the metric system.

There was no unit mentioned and since this thread has turned pedantic the posting was justified.

But.... Stu's corrections for AH vs A aren't pedantic!!! Its often incredibly confusing when people mess it up!!

"Guys, my fridge is using 50 amps, is that normal or do I have a short?"

No issues with Stu.
Issue is with Jim Cate being disrespectful without justification ......and not for the first time.

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

b., for me Ah / day is read as amp hours per day. But if someone is "grading papers" they might suggest it means Ah divided by days, and has said so, .. someone, can't remember who.

I think I would use the phrase Ah daily. And then hope some member would not ask in a sarcastic tone and whiny voice, "Does that mean 12 hours, 24 hours, a hop offshore, what?" hands on hip.

Anyway, nits can be picked, stay calm.

Explain your point to me again, then.

Oh, I see what you mean now. You think that this thread is pedantic and therefore it would be important to say "90 degree F" in the context of ocean water.

Yeah. I disagree that the difference between AH and A is pedantic.

Goodbye now.

I did make the error of not posting units......but I challenge anyone to show me a vessel afloat in 90 deg C water (I will not accept smart ass postings of aluminum boats afloat in a hotspring) .

Incredibly confusing. But not for everyone, maybe you, respecfully.

Let me add some context.... "That there big ol' house bank ran down in four hours. I think my fridge is using (mentally insert "drawing")(context) 50 amps. Is that normal, or do I have a short (again context "short") ?

There's always context. Or one can ask question, to better understand. A conversation.

Or,,..... break out the marking pen, preach, whatever. Run folks off, derail the thread.

I forgot the subject of this thread, at this point. Time to move on I guess.

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

Amazing......the eagerness to ridicule others over unit confusion whilst touting the importance of using the correct terminolgy / unit reference. When the boot is swopped over you then say its being pedantic. It seems that some people have the habit of attributing statements to others that have not occurred. Where have I said the misunderstandings over A & A/H is being pedantic? I do think that some understanding could be beneficial. What I do read is a couple of individuals that resort to changing the subject, being unnecessarily rude which has led to this whole thread deteriorating (not yourself, Chris) incorrectly attributing statements that have not been made and then trying to justify themselves by using those same fabrications. Mostly sad and irrelevant.

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

Not popping at you Sail Monkey .......
Its the level of criticism that some people poke at others for making an error that provoked that exchange. The expression about those that never make mistakes never make anything could be apt. To my mind your posting was clear. Similarly, those that wrote 20A were similarly pretty clear. If I had a doubt I would seek clarification whereas a couple of folk on here seek to glorify themselves by arbitarily ridiculing those that dont comply with using the correct terminolgy and making a huge deal out of it. I really objected when one poster threw dispersions on to another's character - totally out of order without justification.
