Waterproof Boot For Rocker Switch

hi I have impecuniously employed a finger controlled rocker switch flat on deck with my windlass. I've built alittel wooden surround for it, but i need a boot/durable membrane to cover it - preferably while i use it. can't find a boot anywhere....
any ideas or solutions?

thnx J

Make one up from neoprene. Hold it down with a SS hose clamp. Without pics I am only guessing that a hose clamp will fit the box.

Alternatively, foot switches are pretty cheap. Mine is a Maxwell, works fine and only cost $40.

Re: Waterproof Boot For Rocker Switch

Rocker Switch Boots aren’t intended for your application, and shouldn’t be expected to perform well (for long).
Most switch manufacturers offer Boots for their various switches.

Sealing Switch Boots Zago - Circuit Breaker - Toggle, Pushbutton, Rotary Switch Boots

Jury rigging with a plastic cover just to get home is ok but will not last long in the sun.

A real foot switch will do 200 amps for years with water spray daily.
For $50 usd I would go for the real foot switch.

I agree, a simple rocker switch is unlikely to last all that long given the amps that a windlass draws, even if it has a solenoid . Get a switch that's rugged enough for the application. You might even find a suitable switch in your local autoparts store that has off-road stuff.
