Warm Cubic Relay

I have a G. Cartier 12v 25a cubic relay attached to wiring heading to navigation instruments on my Beneteau. I gets warm with use! Per tech sheet voltage drop is minimal, <5m V/A. Wires attached to it are solid. Why is it warm? Click image for larger version

Because it’s dissipating about 65 watts of heat.

It takes power to the coil, just like a lightbulb would, to close the contacts. (think coil-lightbulb). Coil is one circut, contacts are another.
