Warm Cubic Relay
I have a G. Cartier 12v 25a cubic relay attached to wiring heading to navigation instruments on my Beneteau. I gets warm with use! Per tech sheet voltage drop is minimal, <5m V/A. Because it’s dissipating about 65 watts of heat.

It takes power to the coil, just like a lightbulb would, to close the contacts. (think coil-lightbulb). Coil is one circut, contacts are another.
