Anybody have any experience with trying to hook up engine data to a chartplotter? I can't seem to get any real information. I have a D-55 Volvo engine, they want $2,000! for the interface AND I'm not sure it will really work since the dealer hasn't done one before.

yes its works, is it worth teh money, no, You can get the EDC didplay unit cheaper and thats shows you everything anyway., opps sorry just saw that you have a D55, well thats not ECU driven. Why the need to bring a few gauges to the chartplotter.

There is a broader question about NMEA but I simply want to keep a clean installation and would like the ability to have all the engine info at the helm outside, helm inside and the nav table without buying a bunch of redundant gauges. I do plan to have one set of gauges inside for redundancy.
