Volvo alternator and charging sensor

The D1-30 features a powerful 115 amp alternator with a built-in charging sensor as standard. The charging sensor guarantees correct charging voltage to the battery. The system provide high charging capacity for single and multiple battery banks.

Does anyone know how good this new Volvo regulator is?

None of the Volvo websites say anything about it other than the above.

Query Volvo directly. If it isn't a 3-stage or 4-stage regulator...forget it, get an external one. An alternator that is really designed for multiple banks, will also have two charging outputs and two charging sensors. (I've seen them with two outputs, for two exgernal regulators, but never an internally regulated one with dual everything required. Does this have all that??)

Where is the voltage sensed? If it's sensed right at the output of the alternator it's most likely a singe stage regulator.

I have not heard of any internal 3 stage regulators and Volvo has been advertising this alternator/regulator combination for a number of years.

A marine 3 stage regulator should have adjustments for different battery types.
