Have had a Victron Multiplus for years. Installed several others in client boats.
I make it a practice to never use the Inverter mode unless away from the
dock & shorepower, or when the onboard
diesel generator is not running.
At dockside, you can choose the
Charger Only switch position on the Victron, not the ON position with is both
charger & inverter.
Away from the
dock, I typically check to see that no high-current AC loads are connected (like A/C, heaters,
water heater, battery chargers, etc.) before switching the inverter on. Then, I usually leave the inverter on so that 120VAC is available throughout the
boat as needed. Works for me.
