Two Batteries

OK I have 1 battery hooked to solar panels and am thinking i need some more amp hours,so how dow i wire up a second battery is it just negative to negative and positive to postive (terminals)? or will that creat a series (if thats what its called) that is putting out 24V,I only need to put out 12V and thats what the current battery is rated at.

positive to positive, negative to negative = parallel operation

that will double the amperage, same voltage

(assumes both are 12V batteries)

Battery Banks (series, parallel, or series/parallel) should always be configured so that Positive & Negative Line & Load Distribution Cables are connected to different batteries at opposite ends of the combined bank.

Connect Positive to battery 'A', and Negative to battery 'B'.

When connecting the batteries in parallel, the positive poles are connected to each other, as are the negative poles. The voltage does not change and the capacity (Ah) will be the sum of the connected batteries.

Cheers Gord,I was wondering about where to hook up the load as well,probably would have just connected em to the one battery,but now i know better
