If you continue to try to fix electrical problems by touching wires to various places to "see what happens" you will soon learn that is not the way to test things.

Your next test is to see that this alternator is working. You may have blown the diodes with your "testing".

Oil pressure & Temperature gauges often maintain their last reading (artifact), when the engine is turned off.
When the start key is next turned to “accessory on ” (not start/crank), the gauges should return to zero, and the alarms (if fitted) should sound or light.

The gauge should not show any significant Oil Pressure, with the key on, but engine stopped.
