Oil pressure & Temperature gauges often maintain their last reading (artifact), when the engine is turned off.
When the start key is next turned to “accessory on ” (not start/crank), the gauges should return to zero, and the alarms (if fitted) should sound or light.
The gauge should not show any significant Oil
Pressure, with the key on, but engine stopped.
