Tesla Battery eBay

Just discussing the future of electric power at work today which led to googling tesla battery's, and it seams they are turning up on eBay. I also see mr musk is planning to half the cost of said batteries. Any thoughts from the resident experts on installing them on our boats (and by 'our' I mean yours because my laser has no use for a battery of any kind).

Looks yummy 250ah at 24v 1200usd

It's hilarious it's actually made from 444 flashlight batteries.

If I'm right that's about the same as

150usd Trijan 105ah 6v x 8 = 1200

8 x 105 x 6v = 4800 Wh
Tesla = 5.3kWh (from the add) plus you can use all of it not just 50% as per the Trojan. Also looks compact and light.

Come on guys I need to have my options in place before next year...!

Re: Tesla Battery eBay

As far as I know most if not all electric car producers use modern high energy density LiIon chemistry, and specifically not the comparatively safe LiFePO4 we folks are using on our boats.

I'd not let such a battery on my boat and instead gladly pay a bit more for improved safety...
