supply to power strip

I have a power strip (12 volt) for various items at the nav station. And i only want to charge while the solar is delivering an output.
Question is,
Would it be reasonable to install a relay into the positive line comming off the solar so (opperating off mili-amps) when the solar starts to produce voltage, the powerstrip becomes "hot" and I start charging.

At this point, the strip is the first item turned on in the morning and the last turned off at night. and sometimes I forget to turn it off. I would rather charge the laptop, as well as other items while the solar is putting out..
