What solar panels did you buy, what are their specs, how much did you pay?

2 Kyocera 270 watt panels for $236 each.

5 Canadian Solar 250W panels, .50c a watt. I used 4.
They were excess from an install from a major residential installer

Where are they mounted on your boat? Takes a lot of real estate.

5 Solara 140w Power M semi flexible solar panel with SunPower cells

$1,550 each ($7,750 total). $11.00 per watt. lol

Crazy expensive but very efficient. I never run out of power and often waste it because I make too much.

Check shipping and handling though, that often kills a great deal.

Three on top of the davits, makes a garage for the dinghy, the fourth is on top of the Bimini.
The dinghy being a 3.10M dinghy with motor is a little larger than the panels, so they add no real windage or size that the dinghy isn't taking up anyway

I bought a 100 watt panel (12 volt) from Solarblvd a few years ago delivered for around $78.00

Mixture of Kingsolar and Renogy off Amazon.

I added 600W for a total of about $400. So far they have exceeced the rated output on sunny days.. However, the MC4 connectors, not so much. I have changed a total of 5 MC4 connectors in the year and a half we have been out. I will no longer use connectors unless I absolutely have to!

I would not hesiate to buy Renogy solar panel again.

Must buy quality MC4s yourself, and crimp them properly, ideally Rennstein.

99% of the ones that ship with panels are cr^p.

pricey for 80W but as supplementary, put out / put away as needed, reduce engine runtimes. . .

My buy was 4 years ago so info is a bit dated. 4X110W at $90 each. Forget the name but probably B grade anyway. Very happy with them except the weight. I have them on DIY hardtop so weight may be an issue which I'm planning to address with flexible panels at some point in the future. But for now, doing mostly local coastal sails it's OK. Apparently for similar $$ one can now get flexible panels of similar wattage. If so, I'd probably go with 4X150W or even 6X150W (preferred wattage if the top will accommodate that many).

PS Bought the panels in FL they do not tax solars which saved me about $30. My liveaboard friend delivered to me in MA on his annual Spring FL to MA migration. Otherwise the shipping costs would've eaten all the savings on the panels themselves compared to our local prices here.
