Bingo! I custom program almost every Victron controller that leaves my shop. It is kind of an expensive cable for a one-time thing so it is usually best to try & buy from a dealer who can custom program it for you...

Brilliant. This solves it. Thank you very much.

BTW, there is no mentioning about this capability in the manual.

You can get the gory detail if you read together the literature from battery and charger manufacturers. Big picture is that in a flooded battery you to measure specific gravity of the electrolite both to determine if you need to equalize at all and then every hour or so to determine if you need to keep it going.

If you do not understand what happens when you keep the equalization going too long (ie until there is no more sulfate in the plates and the amps x volts you pump in are used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen) then you may consider following the instructions and ne er doing an unattended equalization.
Cheers

Yes, I'm sure. On my Victron (Phoenix Multi Inverter/Charger 2500W/120A) the float value is also programmable. However, the so-called "storage value" is not. It's set at 13.2VDC and you can't change it. So the charger goes first to 13.8VDC (or whatever value you've programmed), then after a time of no activity it automatically drops down to 13.2VDC.

You're right about equalization (15.5VDC and above). I don't think it's required very often. And, I'd be leery about "automatic equalization", AKA uncontrolled equalization. With battery charging voltages that high, I'd wanna be right there to monitor/control what's going on.

Bill

Hey Bill, I was just fooling around with our Victron and noted you can turn the 13.2V storage mode off so that the user defined float point is used instead.

Mark,

Thanks very much for that. I'll try it when I get back to my boat in May (it's on the hard under wraps in Maine for the winter).
