You fuse for a dead short at the battery. That is the dangerous source. See ABYC.

I wouldn't install a fuse larger than the wire's ampacity but if the controller puts out 10 amps I certainly wouldn't fuse at 10. For 10 awg wire - it has an ampacity of 51 in engine spaces - I would use a 40 amp fuse.
Thanks. I tried to check with the manufacture to no avail but the seller has replied to me sending me an alternative Manuel which identifies a 40 amp fuse as well and yes close to the battery on the positive line. Cheers.
