Silentwind Wind Generator

My search for a wind generator continues... I'd like to know if anyone has had FIRSTHAND experience with the Silentwind wind generator made by Spreco (the company that makes the superior "blue blade" upgrade for the Air machines).

From what I can gather, this generator hit the market late last year. This lack of a track record makes the decision-making process difficult. However, I have been encouraged by what little I have read. Since I knew from Day 1 that quietness was of upmost importance to me, I feel attracted to this machine.

I think the opinion among CF posters regarding Spreco's blue blade replacements for the Air X and Breeze have been pretty much unanimous in that they are quieter than the Air stock blades. Now, I'd like to hear from anyone who has either a) seen/heard a Silentwind in action or b) has one on his boat.

Sven

A similar thingy from Plastimo:

Plastimo - Boat equipment : Our products - Comfort on board

BTW I call from Las Palmas, Canary Islands, which happens to be just downwind from where they make them, and I have never seen a single one yet.

Re: Silentwind Wind Generator

Update on Silentwind Generator:-

It arrived well packed and in perfect condition, donít know what i was expecting but I was very impressed with the quality of the unit.
All tools and installation books included, very professional looking.
Itís a meaty, robust looking bit of kit..

Not sure about the controller though, looks a bit industrial and not the nicest thing to look at, It needs to be mounted where I can see it and access the brake. Looks like itís been designed to be mounted out of sight.

Still got to wire it up, so will update when itís doing what itís meant to be doing....

Donít know yet, I have it tied back until I get all the wiring connected up, will let you know as soon as itís up and running.
Running the wires is probably going to be the hardest part of the installation

Re: Silentwind Wind Generator

I'll be very curious to hear how this works for you.

I have been looking for a wind generator for a while for our boat:

Bonne Amie

But since this is a restoration being able to mount and unmount it is important, as well as being able to do so with discrete changes that can be reverted to original without too much effort. I wish someone would make something that would clip around a shroud.

Re: Silentwind Wind Generator

The D400 is silent as well. The ONLY place it can be heard is on the bow of our boat.
