Correction to my previous post as found by MidLandOne (thanks):

Impedance is the total value of resistance, capacitance and inductance .... Capacitive and Inductive reactance values depend on circuit frequency ... for dc f=0Hz....

I will be more careful next time - promised.

Mike is right that it is much better to bring the cables in at opposite ends of the bank (e.g. the negative cable attaches to the battery farthest way from where the positive cable attaches). This helps to charge and discharge all batteries equally. The attached is a diagram of 6v batteries wired for 12v but the wiring is the same (credit to Sonnenschein Gel Cell Batteries for the picture)

Here is my final ( as installed) drawing.

I saw the option to keep my original 1800w inverter in place and operational along with the 3000w Multi inverter. Since this put the size of the main feeds at the upper limits of a theoretical full load, I decided to double up on those wires just to be safe.
