Separate Generator From Motor

I have a Markon SL105 generator (AC) connected to a 2 cylinder Kubota diesel motor and wish to remove and completely disassemble, clean, test, and reassemble the generator (to see if it is causing the output to be all over the place).

What is the correct procedure for disconnecting it from the motor? The motor has a central mounting plate on mounts on each side. The generator has a single mounting at the free end of the unit. I think I will need to put a wedge under the motor end during decoupling to support the load at that end.

If I then unfasten the mounting bolts on the generator and remove the bolts securing the chassis to the engine, will I be able to just slide the whole unit out? Exactly how is the rotor coupled to the engine?

Re: Separate Generator From Motor

No actual experience with this particular model...

But yessss on the support...

And the connection should simply slide apart as a splined or keyed shaft...
