Seeking advice ref smart charging set up options

Greetings. I am at the stage of upgrading my charging system on my Corbin 39. Currently I have Hitachi 55 amp standard alternator on my 55 hp Yanmar 4JHE. I have approx 350 amp battery bank, with dual paralleled house batteries and a dedicated starter. I have used Balmar externally regulated alternator with smart regulator on previous boat, however I have been reading about a number of other options. The one that intrigued me was the Ample Power system that uses a solenoid to parallel the house and starter batteries, an external smart regulator and dispenses entirely with the 1/2/Both battery switch. Does anyone have any experience and thoughts on this type of set up. Solar panels are in the future as well, however biggest bang for the buck first. Thanks in advance.
