Searching for the basics

I have just purchased a 1982 Gulfstar Sailmaster 68' and I'm finding the installed electronics somewhat bewildering!! Particulary the chargers/Inverters.
There are four battery banks, 12V house, 12V inverter, 24V inverter and 24V hydraulics. Over time various chargers and inverters have been installed/replaced so we have a bit of a mix of equipment. A couple of Xantrex Link 20's have been installed to monitor the batteries but I'm convinced they aren't set up correctly. After reviewing the Xantrex instruction booklets I am more confused than ever, so I thought I'd consult Crusiers Forum, but alas, the same terms are being used, so I'm none the wiser.

Does anyone know where I can get a simple (really simple) explanation of things like Equalizing, Float Charging, Peukert Exponent, etc, etc.

For sure, this has been covered somehere - I just can't find it. I'm a sailor, not an electrcian. Although, it seems like that needs to change!!

Thanks
David

It's been a while since I looked, but the AmplePower website may have some of what you're looking for.

And, welcome to the Forum!
