There was a guy once who lost
and started his diesel
by hoisting an anchor
up the rig though a block with the tail wrapped around part of the motor
. I believe he drained his oil
and heated it and refilled. He also filled the cylinders with propane
. I believe he only fired one or two cylinders first.
Also some folks have converted IC engines to steam/air engines. If you could do this on one cylinder only the scuba
tank probably has enough power to start most sailboat sized diesels.
