See the thread about why cruising and live aboard couples quit and a lot of it has to do with being comfortable.
There is a saying:
"Ice and cold food
is the only mark of civilization...everything else is just show"
I've carried down to Mexico
Engel units for cruisers that thought they could make it without refrigeration
...it a lot harder than you think and personally I would do what it took power wise to make some type of refrigeration happen. Even a simple 12v portable plug
in until you figure out what you want/need.
Yes you are correct, when we will be arriving at our destination
and living aboard
we will sort the refrigeration out. But when it comes to the cruising, I'm not sure we will need it, well we will have refrigeration in terms of an icebox
. We did cruise
for half a year using only ice for the icebox
and it turned out to be fine. So as we will now be stopping in harbours more frequently we think we will cope until we arrive at the final destination
. The trip will be from Le Havre (France) to Odense (Denmark).
Thanks however for the advice.
