Rolls / Surrette AGM Batteries

Rolls/Surrette will be releasing their new AGM line of batteries in the next couple of weeks. If you have any technical questions regarding their new line of batteries feel free to ask.

At the moment there is very little information but in the next couple of days more and more technical information should surface.

It should be very interesting to see what Rolls/Surrette could bring to the AGM market since they are leaders in high-end lead-acid batteries.

Greetings and welcome aboard.
Do I presume correctly that you’re associated with DC Battery Specialists, or DC Marine Systems in Miami?

Yes, trying to help people with technical battery questions since there are some people out there that don't have much experience with batteries.

DC...what specific brands (for mariners) do you deal with and have good tech info or experience with aside from the Rolls? There are some great battery folks already on the board but current product tech info is always appreciated. BTW...welcome!

Also...probably a good idea to note your commercial affiliation in your signature so people know you are being up front about your association and not doing "stealth marketing".

Camaraderie, Brands that we deal with directly and have experience with are the Rolls/Surrette, Lifeline, Fullriver and Optima.

I have all ready asked permission from the forum administrators before making any posts. I'm here for technical help on batteries as well as on Outback Marine Inverters.

If there are any questions that you ask that I don't know the answer to, I can probably contact the factory and find the answer to those questions.

Thumbs up

I dealt with Albert of DC Battery via e-mail when I bought my Fullriver AGMs last year. The guys were a pleasure to deal with!

will they have anything in the L-16 6 volt configuration? How do you think it will compare against the Fullriver DC400-6?

Yes, they will have an L-16 size AGM 6V. This is actually one of their most popular sizes in their regular lead-acid line so they will definitely have one in their new AGM line.

I believe it will be rated at 420 A/H @ 20hr compared to the 400 A/H Fullriver L-16, so it will have more amp hours than the Fullriver. If the Rolls/Surrette AGM line is anywhere near the quality of their regular lead acids then they should have one of the better AGM products out there. We will have to wait and see.

Actually I just got confirmation from the Factory that their Rolls/Surrette L16 size battery will have 415 A/H @ 20HR rate.

Rolls will probably have these priced out right in between the Lifeline and the Fullriver batteries. Lifelines tend to be the most expensive AGMs (best AGM product out there so far) I highly doubt that Rolls will try to keep their pricing too high since Fullriver does make a good product at a very reasonable price.

new question for DC battery

I have always been told not to mix battery types. However, I have a new Balmar Digital Duo and Balmar MC-16 regulator and they say that I can use traditional flooded batteries for the start and AGM's for the house. The regulator is set for the AGM's (alternator goes to house) and the Duo (goes from house to start) is set for flooded.
Comments?
thanks

Yes, You should not have any problems as long as they are in a separate bank like in the particular case that you are describing. You should NEVER mix battery types in the same bank.
