Reverse polarity light flashing once every min or so

Hello all,

Over the last day or so we've noticed that we see a red flash on our shore panel lights. It's always been constant green as far as I know but every min or so we see it flash to a red light for maybe 1/4 of a sec and then back to green.

On the panel it says that this is reverse polarity. We haven't noticed anything cutting our or any error lights on any of then chargers, etc. the batteries are saying they are fully charged at 14.1v.

Any ideas? Is this bad for the batteries?
I haven't noticed this before, could it be the local shore power here?

Any advice would be most welcomed.

Regards,
Simon

Reverse polarity probably is not bad for the batteries but bad for anything else. To my limited knowledge, it can cause a personal hazard inside the boat. Essentially the hot wire is running back through the neutral wire. This could be a cause of the boat wiring or most likely defective dock wiring.

I think it's a glitch, your either reverse polarity, or your not, don't see how that is changing.
Wonder if a loose / intermittant ground on shorepower could cause this?

Re: Reverse polarity light flashing once every min or so

Hi, that's what's throwing me. I would have thought it was one or the other.
It's a new shore power cable and we haven't seen this issue at any other dock.

We leave here in a day or so, I might run from the solar until we go and then see if I get the issue at the next marina. If not I know it's here. If I do, I know it's me.

Regards,
Simon
