Recycled or used Leaf and or prius batteries

Can i used Leaf of Prius batteries to power an electric motor conversion in a boat

The Prius batteries in particular are or were readily available. Many cars get totaled and only very few Prius ever need a battery replaced, so there are lots in junkyards and there is no real market other than the recycle one, so prices are or used to be pretty good.
I've wondered about using them as a house bank but haven't bothered. The older Prius batteries are NIMH I believe and the Prius will not charge them over 80% nor discharge less than 40% I think to extend battery life.
Having said that its not as much power as you might think, I believe their real advantage is that they can be very rapidly charged and discharged.

A Volt has a 16-18 kwh lithium (not sure of chemistry) battery pack.
