Quick Flexcharge Question

We have a Flexcharge 25 between our wind generator (Fourwinds-ii) and our house bank (330 AH Gel). I don't have a dump load attached to the Flexcharge right now.

So here's the quesiton...

Once the house bank is fully charged, will the Flexcharge continue to overcharge the batteries if there is no dump load? Or will it break the connection between the wind generator and the batteries?

(Either one does't sound ideal. I'm looking to prioritize/schedule the boat work I need to do.)

So does anyone know how, specifically, Flexcharges work?

Regards,
Brad
(I did quick search and didn't see anything on this site to answer this.)

Re: Quick Flexcharge Question

I also use that regulator and it is specifically stated in the manual that when the unit senses a full charge a relay closes and shifts the output from the batteries to the divert terminals. If there is no load attached to the divert terminals you will have an unloaded condition with the wind generator.
- - If the wind generator does not have any internal regulation or safety shutoff or some way to stop blade over-speed, it is possible the generator will over-speed resulting in possible blade loss or other damage to the unit. Check your wind generator manual for any limitations on running the unit unloaded.
