I hope you're not expecting the device to magically allow a 35A Alternator, for instance, to generate a 135A charging input to your batteries.

No. I have an 80A. The choices for these are 40A or 130A (and it lists as up to 130A).

I am looking at it as I have an internally regulated 13.5V output alternator. I want to install 8D AGMs as the house bank and then keep em (relatively) happy. Likely switching the starting bank (currently start and house) of group 24 sealed wet batteries to AGM as well.
