Portable Interior Fan by Ryobi, Anybody Try this?

Hi all,

I have a full set of Ryobi cordless tools on my boat, which includes two lithium batteries and a fast charger. I just saw this portable fan by Ryobi that operates on the same 18v lithium batteries.

I am considering buying the fan to be used wherever needed for night time cooling. I like the portability of it, and the fact that it does not drain the house bank. The power needed to recharge will be easily handled by my solar panels the next day.

Does this seem like a practical option for nighttime cooling onboard? Has anybody used one of these, either onboard or on shore?

The description states a pretty long run time on one lithium battery.

If you already have the batteries it would be hard to go wrong. It's only $30. I think you should get one and try it out then tell me if I should get one too.

I have a couple of these fans that run on four D cell batteries. They are a very effective sleep aid. I've used them both at home after hurricanes and on my boat.
It will run a couple of hundred hours on a set of batteries.

Caframo Mini Max Fan #737, 737MM-BCS

Like you I have a bunch of Ryobi 18 volt tools and batteries. I was thinking of getting the Ryobi fan because it's larger than the Caframo ones I already have. While the Caframos work very well for sleeping, I'm thinking the Ryobi might be more effective when I'm trying to work in the heat.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of my Ryobi tools.

Update: I finally brought the Ryobi fan to my boat and it has exceeded all expectations. It is quiet, powerful, and runs all night on one 18v battery. I'm really glad I did this.

Thanks for the up date Bill. I'll head over to Home Depot this weekend and pick one up. I think they have the two packs of the big lithium battery for $99 bucks again.


Since you're into Ryobi now, pick up one of the big spotlights that uses the 18 volt battery. It's a great light!
