Re: Portable Generator - 7000 BTU Air Conditioning

Suggest you try the gen set on YOUR air con before you buy. What starts up and works for some may or may not work on another, even if a similar air con type.

The hypothetical doesn't always work, the proof of the pudding is in the eating!
Cheers..

Re: Portable Generator - 7000 BTU Air Conditioning

We ran a portable 10,000 BTU AC off our Honda 2000 last cruise and we never had to take it off the Eco setting.

Re: Portable Generator - 7000 BTU Air Conditioning

For anyone interested Northern Tool has the Hondas on sale right now. $100 off, a $100 gift card and free shipping. I just bought a companion model so that I can use my shore power cable.

Re: Portable Generator - 7000 BTU Air Conditioning

The Companion Model of the Honda EU2000i I think is the way to go on a boat because your ships shore power cord will plug right into the Honda 30A twist lock plug with no adapter. It does cost $100 more than the base model with two normal household GFI plugs, but I think it's $100 well spent. I've been sending folks to Mayberrys.com for years for what I've found to be the best internet price with free shipping and no sales tax if shipped out of NJ.

Re: Portable Generator - 7000 BTU Air Conditioning

If you have the regular model, not the companion, you can add a Hobbs meter simply by connecting it to the 12V charge connectors.
An easy way to keep up with maintenance tasks, it’s surprising how fast hours add up on a generator.
