I bought a "beefed up" Delco without a regulator from Lauderdale Alternator that puts out 85 amps. That combined with a Powerline regulator works well.

I have a 4108 generator. I changed all my alternators (2 mains, 2 generators) to GM CS-144. I also have modified one that that charges my 48v house banks. They come stock in ranges of 140 amps up. Aftermarket versions go to 300 amps. They're very common, parts, rebuild kits and increased output kits are easily to come by. They are the base for many after market, high amp alternators. New prices on ebay run from $85 to $300 depending on output. Used ones from a wrecking yard are about $30. They were used in the mid 1990s in GM cars and industrial equipment. You may need to modify your alternator mount. Curve is early model 140 amp.

Foley Engines are expensive. I just bought a new style rear main seal kit from Parts For Engines (UK) and with shipping it was less than half of Foley's price.
