Onan MDKUB 5.5 kVA genset

Dear all,

I am in South Afrika, Saldanha. The Onan MDKUB doesnot generate AC current. After check with 'specialist' the VR might be faulty. The original VR (part no 305-0854-04) is not available. They tried to change the original one with another AVR. No result. It seems that they are confused with the wiring. Is there anyone with a wiring diagram or any other advice?

Can we assume that you have eliminated the brushes and/or collector rings as a possible problem. That was my problem on an MDKAU once.

Re: Onan MDKUB 5.5 kVA genset

Hello Captain Bill, That is correct. Field, brushes are ok. That is why we tried a generic VR however it might be that there is a relais (or something else) that simply prevent generating current if the working temp has not been reached. Is that possible? Kind reg Peter
