Northern Lights M673 generator issue starting

Our Northern Lights M673 generator is not starting up. It begins to swing, but dies. Low hours on her and has not been an issue in the past. I suspect it may be due to overcranking. I have done a fuel bleed, checked impeller and battery and all seemed ok. However, when removing the dipstick, I had some pressure and oil and either fuel or water seemed to come out from the dipstick pipe.

Not mechanically technical just yet, so had a few questions:

1) Could fuel or water get mixed up with the oil and create the pressure mentioned?
2) If so above, what are next steps - drain all the oil and do a oil change?
3) Any other ideas?

Thanks

If the oil is whitish you have water contamination in the oil. Don’t ever crank it more than 6 to 8 seconds, then stop and wait a minute before cranking again. If you crank beyond 8 or so seconds you risk pulling water into the engine from the below water muffler. That is a bad situation and you need to get a mechanic ASAP to assist in mitigating your damages.

As per the previous comment, if the Oil is Milky in color, you have water contamination. You need to identify where this water is coming from before running the Engine. Is it sea water cooled or Heat Exchanger? Possible cause may be Rear seal failure in the water pump. Sorry don't know the Engine
If you have a leaky injector etc, then the oil level in the sump will increase, but you won't necessarily be able to see the fuel. The concern is why there is pressure in the sump?

<I had some pressure and oil and either fuel or water seemed to come out from the dipstick pipe.>

What is the Oil Level? not overfilled? Apart from checking if there is a blocked breather pipe, you may want to call your local man with the golden spanners to identify where this pressure is coming from

Heed this, salt water will ruin a motor in a hurry, but if you act quick it’s likely there will be no harm.
