New House Bank Data

I replaced the house bank batteries and I am seeing some puzzling numbers on the Link monitor. I have 8 Trojan T105 batteries wired into one 900 amp hour house bank. I charged them and watched the voltage go from 14.2 absorption to 13.2 float after several hours. This appears to be normal. I then turned off the charger to watch what happened. Drawing 8.3 amps on the Link, the voltage was 12.7 at 0800 yesterday. As we went about our normal day, I saw the amps indicate between 8 to 10 depending on what we were doing. This morning at 0700 the link indicated a voltage of 12.0 volts and a total of 192 ah drawn from the batteries. Does 12.0v seem low after using 192 ah from a 900 ah bank?

Yes, it does seem low unless a large load was being powered at the time.

Let the batteries go through a number of cycles before becoming concerned. The ability to take and hold a charge is not optimum on new batteries and becomes much better after a month of cycling.

Also, measure the voltage at the battery terminals just to be sure the Link is correct.

Charging from 12.0 volts to full charge could take 8 or more hrs. depending on the charger you are using. Check the Trojan web site for proper bulk charging voltage. I think it should be a bit higher, 14.6 or there abouts.

Take the load off and wait at least half an hour to get a better idea of the state of charge.
