New dc tv. Witch wire is +

Members,

I would like to cut the end off the dc cigarette lighter plug and wire it directly to a dc terminal block. One wire has writing and the other has long dashs. The directions don't cover this.

Thanks in advance, Woody

... I would never trust 'the labeling' so cut the cigarette lighter plug away one inch from the plug and measure the 'resistance' from the cable ends to the plug.

The wire that went to the middle/center of the cigarette lighter plug is the PLUS wire.

Good luck ;-)

After you cut it, take your multi-meter and determine with it which wire is connected to the center of the DC plug. If you don't have a multimeter, get one, you will need it, it's as useful as a screwdriver

Sometimes the plug contains an integral fuse. Don't forget to include one in the line before you connect the power cord to the house circuit. Don't connect to a starter circuit because hitting the engine ignition draws too much current and makes the tv reboot.

Re: New dc tv. Witch wire is +

Ok, that was easy. I do have one more question. In order to test the tv I took an old one wire fm antenna and plugged it into the coaxial cable on the dinette table. To my surprise I pulled in all the Miami and Palm Beach stations 25 to 30 miles away. Will a single wire work long range if high enough?
