I can think of a lot of stuff that needs their own fuses.

1. Battery
2. Alternator
3. Solar input.
4. Radio.
5. Each piece of navigation gear needs it's own fuse.
6. Interior lights.
7. Accessories (power plugs.)
8. Bow lights.
9. Mast head light.
10. Stern light.
11. Anchor light.
12. Windlass.
13. Bilge pumps.
14. Refrigerator.

Depending on how much nav gear you have, the number could be up around 15-20 fuses.

Absolutely. This is already done on the installation which goes to a different battery. The topic was just for a seperate single battery setup with 1 or 2 items that will be plugged to it

socald-
I have yet to see a 27'er with a DC fridge and windlass.(G)
Life on a vintage Vega may be a lot simpler than on some bigger newer boats.

Oh, I misunderstood, I thought you were installing a fuse panel for the entire boat.

Re: New 12v battery installation help

The 12 Volt Doctor's Practical Handbook and the 12 Volt Bible are a couple of fine books for evening reading before you tackle a project.
