Hi. I seek wisdom and guidance.
At some point, my
boat was equipped with a Xantrex Link 2000R system. The ideal
regulator, shunts, and control board remain, but the
inverter and display unit have been removed by a previous owner. The
inverter is not an issue (it has been replaced with a newer Xantrex that can be operated from the panel on the unit itself), instead my question involves the display unit.
Since the
regulator seems to be working correctly, can I assume that the control board is OK and only have to find a replacement display unit to regain all the
battery monitoring functions?
Would I need a Link 2000R display unit specifically or could I use any Link 2000 display unit?
If I opt to install a different
battery monitor in place of the Link 2000, are the shunts to the
batteries which are connected to the control board necessary for the ideal regulator to continue to function properly?
I would hate to replace this system with all newer stuff if simply plugging in a new display unit would allow me to
monitor the
batteries.
Thanks for your insights.
