Need Feedback from Superwind Owners

We have narrowed down our search on wind generators to the Superwind and would like to ask for feedback from Superwind owners as to how they find the performance and noise levels. And if you were to purchase a wind generator again, would you buy the Superwind. Thanx.

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Smiley.

Still wishing advice on performance & noise, what is it about the Superwind that you like so much?

See an OLD (good) review

Thank you Gord. I had read the July 2007 test when it came out and was very familiar with the results which is what lead me to the decision of the Superwind as my number one choice. But since that test is almost 3 years old I was hoping to hear from sailors that have the unit installed and their experience, maintenance issues and any other information that would be shared or helpful before I purchase.

I recently installed one on a client's boat and have had the opportunity to watch it perform in up to 25 kts of wind. It is a high quality unit, solidly built and it runs vibration free. Its output matches its output curve well and it is the quietest wind generator on the dock by far.

CharlieJ,

Appreciate your comments and first hand information. Was there anything about the installation that was tricky or advice you could offer on install?

Thanx again,

Kyle

Kyle-
Installation was straightforward. Included in this installation was the optional stop switch and the dump resistor bank. There are some specific location specs for the dump bank in the well written manual that were not difficult to adhere to on a 47' sailboat. As I recall, I terminated the output leads from the SuperWind on a terminal strip in the stern locker and then ran AWG 8 forward to the stop switch and to the B+ bus bar and dump bank. The unit mounted easily on a custom made mounting stanchion.

And did I mention how quiet it is?
