Masthead Issue

Wee bit of trouble aloft and looking for help -

Steaming and anchor lights are on the same switch at the panel. Middle switch position opens the circuit. It closes the circuit for the steaming light to the left and the anchor light to the right.

I am getting both lights on in both switch positions. Have tested the wiring at the deck fitthing and it's fine, so the problem is up. Before I go up, can anyone tell me what the problem is and what I should do about it?

Thanks for any insight!

If you remove the steaming light connection from the switch does the steaming light come on when the switch is in the anchor position.

G'day, Mate. Before you head up the mast, check the terminal resistances with a multiimeter on the back of the switch to make sure it is in fact opening the circuit you don't want on. Cheers

The wiring runs through a deck connector next to the mast - I unplugged it and put a meter on each of two hot wires and the ground in each switch position - it works as it should at the deck, so the problem can't be at the panel???
