Link 2000R parameter changes

I have a Link 2000R controller set for AGM batteries. The default? 'charged voltage' parameter is set for 13.2 volts. The bulk charge voltage on the meter generally starts at around 13.* volts and tops out at 14.4 volts. I plan on installing a new set of Full River AGM's and they recommend a 'charged voltage' setting of 14.7. I verified this with a company tech rep. My question is do I just change this parameter setting to 14.7v on the Link? It is the set up button 'under' the Volts button. I would hate to cook a new set of batteries.

The tech rep also verified an absorption voltage of 14.7, and a float voltage of 13.7. I'm not sure how to adjust those values, the Link manual is not very clear on that, or my aging brain can't figure it out.

Thanks I advance for the help.

Re: Link 2000R parameter changes

Addendum to my post: I just tried changing the 'charged voltage' setting to 14.7 volts (charging with alternator) but the Link still switches to accept (absorb) mode at 14.4 volts and not 14.7 as Full River specs recommend. Am I doing something wrong or will the link not accept these parameters? It is all a mystery to me.

Re: Link 2000R parameter changes

G'day, Mate. Here's how I got close to what you're trying to do. I have had a link 2000R and Lifeline AGM's for 16 years aboard my Mason 53. I set the battery type to lead acid and then set the temperature compensation (I can't remember what function off the top of my head and I am not on the boat) to manual and pick the temp that matches your parameters. You should be able to get pretty close if I remember.

If your batteries are in the engine room, you may need to tweek it a bit as your batteries may get pretty warm during charging (you will need to raise the temperature setting that you manually set).

Trust that will help. All the best. Cheers

Re: Link 2000R parameter changes

Thanks for the reply. I thought that might work but wanted another opinion before I "fried" my new batteries.

Does your boat have a blue hull, on the dock across from the Customs office? We are on a mooring in the Bay. We are an Island Packet 40 named Enchantment

cheers

Your welcome, Mate. My Mason 53 is white. I am in the marina on the other side of the Bay in the KeriKeri inlet. Cheers
