Link 2000 Charged Voltage Definition

Hey, CF Brain Trust! I have an ancient, but serviceable, Link 2000R connected to an equally ancient (but serviceable) Freedom 20 inverter/charger.

So. The issue is that the combination described above is under charging my batteries because the Link has an outdated notion of what the acceptance and float voltages should be for my T105 batteries.

Trojan currently recommends an acceptance voltage of 14.7v and a float village of 13.5v. The Link is stuck at 14.4v for acceptance and 13.3v for float.

According to the (horrible) Xantrex manual, there is a parameter called "charged voltage" that can be used to adapt the charger to different battery chemistries, but the manual is extremely vague about the relationship between this value and the acceptance/float voltages, if any.

Anybody out there have any ideas?

The Link 2000 cannot change the voltage of the Freedom.


You can change the charged % parameters.

it probbaly has an AGM vrs flooded setting. but no custom settings.

values and settings should be in the charger manual. it will also change with battery temp.

page 20, the highest you'll get at room temp is 14.4 you could probably trick it to higher voltages but falsing the batt temp sensor.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I have the manual and I've read it. That's always my first resort.

The manual makes does say that the Link has an AGM mode, but the accept voltage is too low. I need 14.8 and it's stopping at 14.4.

I've already done the temperature hack, but I'd rather use a battery temp sensor because ambient temps vary widely here in South Carolina. It's cool now, but it'll be very warm soon.

The manual states explicitly that the Link can be programmed to support a variety of battery chemistries using the charged voltage parameter. It mentions ni cad with a charged voltage of like 15.7 volts, but the manual doesn't say what the relationship between the charged voltage value and the accept and float voltages is, if any. That's what I'm trying to find out.

I now know that the reference in the manual to different battery chemistries applies only to the monitor function of the Link and assumes that you are using a different charger in those applications. Doh!
