Link 1000 Shunt - Lost !

Hi all,

I'm installing a Link 1000 to take better care of my house batteries and having installed the panel and incredibly expensive Xantrex cable (not really needed, but at least the colors are now correct), I've turned to fit the Shunt and found that the bilge pixies have stowed it somewhere the light doesn't shine !

Having turned the boat upside down (yes, I know that's not a good thing to do with a boat ) I'll be damned if I can find it.

Xantrex, as usual, are impossible to contact to get a spare and I really don't want to purchase another complete unit just for the shunt.

Anyone know for sure that they just use a standard 500A shunt ? If so I can probably pick one up on Ebay for little money.

[EDIT] On reflection, I guess I'd need to know the shunt calibration too (I'd assumed 100mA, but could be 50mA, 60mA or anything else). Hmmmm, might need to buy a new Link 1000 after all.

Wonderful

Blue Stocking,

Thanks for checking, that's great. At least I have an option now.

I doubt they've changed this product recently.

If you where a little closer to me (Bermuda) I would give you one of my spares. I tend to hang on to them when I upgrade customers boats. :

That's very kind of you. Will probably pass by Bermuda this fall, but hope to have it fixed up by then.

Give us a call if you do stop. Ask anyone of the dockside crew for Bluestocking, and they will find me.

mV not mA

That should of course read 50mV, not 50mA. Just so we don't confuse anyone coming along later.

when in doubt, check the manual

according to the data sheet, which you can download here Xantrex Technology Inc. - Boats - Link 1000 - Documentation the shunt is 500 A / 50 mV.

Just do a google search for "500 amp shunt", there are some for sale for around $27.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone for the replies on this, I shall duly avoid Xantrex's customer (non-)service dept. (which would probably charge me an arm and a leg anyway) and head straight to Ebay !

Not likely to be an eBay item, but most solar dealers carry them.
