LFP LiFePo4 BMS, Batteries, etc Links

Victron
Victron VE.Bus BMS
Used with Victron LFP Batteries which have all the sensors built in.
VE.Bus to BMS 12-200 alternator control cable
Skylla-i remote on-off cable
Use this cable to connect a Skylla-i to a VE.Bus BMS. The VE.Bus BMS will then disable the Skylla-i charger when the batteries are fully charged.

Why our Batteries are better - Bright Star
CALB Batteries
Reliability - For 400ah @12v take 4 each 100 Ah cells and connect them in series to get 12.8 volts and 100 Ah. Make 4 of those, then wire them together into a parallel matrix. If one of the cells in this matrix pack ever got weak or failed you would lose 25% of your run time but your voltage will still be at 12.8 volts so that your load will see the voltage it requires to run properly. reliability will go up with a percentage of the series strings placed in the matrix.

If you need LiFePO4 batteries in a short delivery time your cost will be about $1.34 per Ah when shipped by air freight to your address. If you can wait for about 8 weeks your cost for ocean shipping will be about $1.20 per Ah, FOB Long Beach port of entry.

So which ones let you adjust the LVD / OVD setpoints?

Re: LFP LiFePo4 BMS, Batteries, etc Links

Well I am not going to find every one for you, but this is one of them

Battery Management System - Evlithium
Read down around the 5th page, where the values can be set.

Also Orion Jr BMS all the settings are adjustible in the setup program.

https://www.orionbms.com/manuals/utility_jr/

There are others.

Re: LFP LiFePo4 BMS, Batteries, etc Links

R.E.C. BMS: Manufacturer of various BMS systems suitable to most chemistries and battery sizes / voltages. Single box system, water resistant casing, no exposed cell modules.

Their smallest product (REC ABMS) is perfect for 12V systems with active balancing, plenty of interfaces (two potential free relay NO/NC contacts, two digital interfaces via opto-coupler, CAN bus, serial, shunt, temp sensors), including CAN bus protocol integration into the Victron world.

Custom programming available, also highly configurable set points for anything relevant to the chosen chemistry by the user via the serial / USB interface and a windows program (sold separately).

Larger units can be cascaded to create high voltage battery storage systems.

Implementation example: LiFeYPO4 1000Ah Winston prismatic cells and all electric galley on our Lagoon 400S2.

Contact them by e-mail for questions, prices, shipping terms, special interface requests etc. They ship internationally.

Re: LFP LiFePo4 BMS, Batteries, etc Links

Just did the specs and the i3 has a 120ah 360 volt =42.2kWh battery so at the 350kw it was charged at was within the 10C specs for high end Lfp .
Insane yes but within battery specs.

Re: LFP LiFePo4 BMS, Batteries, etc Links

I need a BMS to install with a LiFePo4 bank for a heavy weather sailboat. We are refitting our boat for Antarctic Seas and need a BMS that would be able to handle the extreme pounding of a very intense and violent sea. The entire boat is being set up to run almost exclusively on renewable energy in an effort to show other sailors that this is not only possible, but practical. That said, the extreme shocks that the boat will undergo cannot be overstated. When we are lifted by a wave and dropped through the air 12 meters to the ocean below, I need to know my electrical system is still going to work. I am designing and installing the system myself so I should be able to make repairs at sea unless there is a catastrophic failure (but of course, we are a sailboat and can operate with no electricity if need be).

I am in talks with REC to see if they could build me a unit that was built with solid state relays instead of the electromechanical ones that they would normally come with. I have read every forum and bit of info I can find but it seems that there are not any other sailors who have put up any info about being a heavy weather sailor who also uses LiFePo4.
Does anyone have, or know anyone with the personal experience that I am looking for? Also, I fully admit that I am definitely still in the learning phase and I could very well be overlooking something. Would it be possible to just have back-up relays that would trigger a shut-down in the event that one of the built-in relays failed to open or close?
Many thanks for any advice.

I have not done that kind of sailing since my switch to Lfp so my only specific advice would be **** happens so carry at least one spare. That way nothing will fail.

Re: LFP LiFePo4 BMS, Batteries, etc Links

Just take 2 REC BMS.You can also use only the digital outputs instead of the relay contacts. They are Opto couplers. You also can open the housing and fill it with 2k silicone or raisin to make a solid block of it. It would also seal the electronics from water...
