Lets talk three-way

Im wiring the salon lighting (not what you thought huh?) I would like two switches to turn them on or off. I cant seem to find single pole, double throw (SPDT) rockers that are "on-on" to make the three way connection. The "on-off-on" rockers are easy to find, but wont do what I want. I hate to start a thread for a single question, but I did...:-)

Re: Lets talk three-way

Use the momentary contact type switches to control a bistable relay which changes state with each pulse from the switch(es).
You can have as many switches (all in parallel) as you want.
My Dragonfly's saloon has that setup.

bistable relay
  • A relay having two stable states. A pulse opens it if closed, or closes it if open, thus requiring two pulses to complete a full cycle that returns it to its original state.

Re: Lets talk three-way

Thanks, Didn't consider that. I was trying to set it up like a house hold three way set up. Glad I asked!

Cole Hersee-Cole Hersee Rocker Switch, DPDT On-On - M-58031-06-M-58031-06-BX

I think if you look outside the marine vendors you might find a bigger selection. Search the above site for "rocker switch" and see if they have what you're looking for.
