I don't have that answer but I figure it's a cheap experiment.

Um, bingo. So "lighten up". (Haha, you see what I did there?)

Re: LED Strip Lighting

"adjustable (RGB) color?"
So you buy the RGB strips, and a matching RGB controller, which allows you to dial in the amount of each color that you want. If the folks you are buying from can't explain that and sell you matching pieces, use someone else.

If you're into light shows...Well sure, buy those, and an ILDA laser projector, and crank up the Pink Floyd.

What's really hard is having a battery bank big enough to power an amp for really good bass on the speakers. <G>

I'm almost tempted to make my own with an arduino because the amount of control I've seen so far is not enough.

I draw the line at anything flashing.

I was looking into paradigm millenia ct speaker system, but i am reluctant on having any more wires than required to power it, and seems it would be awkward to place this somewhere on a boat. So I'm checking out speakers from Libratone that are probably way too expensive.

Re: LED Strip Lighting

I have worked with led strips a lot. The quality can vary dramatically. I have now settled on LEpro lighting as it is good quality and consistent. I use there aluminium profile to mount the tape into. They offer color changing tapes, so be sure to check

Re: LED Strip Lighting

I have heard that RGBW LEDs are nicer than their RGB counterparts. RGB make the white light out of 3 LEDs and so are a true white which can be quite harsh. The RGBW ones have more LEDs/meter and therefore you have more control of the colour and provide a softer white light. Obviously, they are more expensive as well.
