Correction: one of them was a 110v AC bulb, so...

In truth, neither of the bulbs you bought was suitable for 12v in boats (the CAN-bus 12v one might have worked; the 110v AC one would only work in a 110v AC fixture). I suggest you open all your boat light fixtures, write down what type of incandescant bulb is already in there, then take that list to your favourite marine store/chandlery and see what they have for LED replacement. Not every incandescent bulb has a direct replacement, in some cases you might have to try the nearest alternative or replace the fixture.

Show the screw in bulb that looks like an appliance bulb is not 110?

Re: Led bulbs don't work

there are many variations ... really, the easiest thing to do is to note what bulbs you have and get led replacements for those bulbs, or just ask around the marina and see what others have done, or what ideas they might have that would help you.

Re: Led bulbs don't work

The LED replacement I got was the exact same number as the bulb in my fixture. 1156 Automotive.

how about a few hundred 12v LED bulbs that would fit your typical 120V AC incandescent socket?
(and be destroyed by the 120 V AC)

Re: Led bulbs don't work

Why would I want to stick a 12-volt bulb in a 110 socket?

You're the one who asked to see the ones that fit...

Recreational vehicles and boats have used the common (easy to buy and cheap) 110/120 v bulb sockets for 12 v bulbs for over 75 years.

People used to be smart enough to check which bulb was supposed to be where.

If your house system is 24v.... Is there any supplier you would recommend to find replacement bulbs?

Re: Led bulbs don't work

Marinebeam.com has high quality bulbs, many come in 12 to 30 volt range. They come with their own voltage controller on board, and the festoon bulbs I bought didn't care about polarity. I've been very happy with mine. Don't be turned off by the price.

Re: Led bulbs don't work

We installed an LED bulb in our tri-light and it worked fine - except it blocked our ability to receive AIS signals. I'm switching back to incandescent.
