Just Scored a New Electromaax Alternator on Ebay

Hi all,
I have been looking at replacing my Balmar 712-80 alternator with a larger capacity one. My current model has been discontinued, so I was going to get one of the Balmar 621 models. They are not cheap, but what is on a boat? Well, today I bought a new Electromaax 120A alt. for $150 plus shipping. That is a score, as it is the same shape and dimensions as my current one, and the wiring is the same for my external regulator.

Just thought I would pass this along to remind you folks to always monitor Ebay and Craig's List for deals.

Cheers, Bill

Well done! Hopefully you have the serpentine pulleys and belt to go with it.

Re: Just Scored a New Electromaax Alternator on Ebay

I've been thinking of upgrading my alternator as well and I've been checking eBay and amazon.com.

I've seen what seem to be some good deals but when checking further, the reviews have been pretty bad. I'm sure there's a pretty hefty markup on the Balmar products but I'm sure there is a difference in quality between supposedly identical products that sell for $900 and $129.

So, that project has taken a back seat while I work on other things.
