Isolate

I'm about to reattach my stainless end caps to my aluminum boom, how would you isolate the two metals? Very tight fit, actually will have to splice boom so as to compress ends back on.

If the end caps are a male fit into the boom, freeze them for a day or two, apply a dielectic grease and see if that works. If you are adding mechanical fasteners, you will probably lose the isolation factor anyway Good luck.

Paint the steel, paint the alu, use a lot of thick Lanocote (or equivalent). Wipe off the excess.

If the alu part is anodised then it will last much longer in contact with inox.
