Inverter Pass-Through Limit

We have an old Freedom 7 (750w) that we never hooked up on the inverter side. With the recent electrical upgrade, I'd like to hook it up. But the manual is fuzzy on one thing.
It's rated for 15A which is fine for underway. We don't have much demand. Shore power is 30A, so is the 15A breaker going to throw if it's in pass through? I would hope that the breaker manages only the inverter's output and not the pass through. I'd like to put the inverter between the shorepower and the AC panel and just refrain from drawing over 15A when on battery. (Knowing that the breaker will trip if we do... no big) The alternate installs in the manual require separating and dedicating the inverter to part of the panel. We only have 4 circuits fed from a bus, so I don't want to buy a new panel or hack up the current one.

Any tips/warnings welcome.

You might be able to wire in a selector switch/breakers, either to replace the existing 30A breaker onboard or downstream of it. Blue Sea Systems makes a nice small panel with ganged switches and slides, so you can select Either Shorepower OR another source (generator, inverter) but never both. Here it is: AC Toggle Source Selector 120V AC 30A - PN 8032 - Blue Sea Systems

I have two of these on my boat (two 30A shorepower circuits) and, in my case, they control either shorepower or generator power.

Nice option. Not as expensive as a full AC panel upgrade. I spent that much on DC cables. Good tip!

Same thing but prettier for my purposes. Again... good thinking.

I much prefer the double breaker slide toggle to which Bill linked, than the rotary source selector switches, which are notoriously "delicate".
If you must use a rotary switch, ensure that:
You NEVER switch under load.
Label all wires!
