Inverter/Charger

Am considering a Pro Mariner 02012 Inverter Charger, Anyone have experience with Pro Mariner product good or bad. Is there a site that reviews and rates marine electronics. Thanks for any input

Re: Inverter/Charger

I have delt with one promarine inverter / charger (may not have been the exact same one) and the control of it is horrible. you can't separate the charger on with inverter on. so either both are on, or off. IE you are plugged into the dock, and the dock loses power, it switches to inverter and kills your battery really fast. you should be able to have a charger on but the inverter in off mode.

we ended up having to install a 2nd charger and just leave the inverter / charger off because it was a big issue at that dock location. which also means none of the outlets on board work either.. since it shuts off the pasthrough when the charger / inverter was set to off. pretty much a gongshow. and should never be on a boat. you want separate switches for charger on / off and inverter on / off

I love the magnums. easy to use. built in battery monitor (with add on BMK)

I like the promariner ProNauticP chargers though.

Re: Inverter/Charger

ProMariner is not a great unit, it's meant for the "budget" crowd, and won't last for a long time for anyone needing a dependable charger inverter. smac 999 is spot-on about the Magnum. Now that is a quality unit, especially when you are trying to charge the batteries in a hurry at the dock.
